Merry almost Christmas lovelies!!
I have been doing a lot of thinking recently, mostly about grad school and what I want to go for. I was initially thinking about clinical mental health counseling, but the more I talked with people and the more research that I did, I just decided that I think social work may be a better option for me.
Anyways, this post is not about me and what I want to do with my life. Rather, it is about the spirit of Christmas and the gift of giving. It is about an act of kindness that brightened my day that I would like to share with you guys!
I was sitting in my room this afternoon worrying and obsessing over school and my future. Then my mom called my name from down stairs – I received a package! It was from my friend from across the country. She, too suffers from medical illnesses and has been a wonderful support for me and a great person to talk to. Even though we have never met, I am so happy to have her in my life! She sent me a late birthday, early Christmas present! She made me a beautiful scarf and journal. She also gave me an owl scarf hanger and a coloring book calendar with such a nice card. It was such a wonderful surprise to receive this package and it lifted my spirits. We have not talked in a while…so just to know that she had been thinking of me put a smile on my face and made my heart melt. Gestures of kindness, not matter how large or small, can really turn a person’s day around. You never know the impact that a simple act of kindness can have on someone. Giving thoughtful gifts, sending Christmas cards, or simply saying “have a good day” and “Merry Christmas” to strangers or showing them a smile can lift their spirits, which is what this season is all about….giving to others. I am so grateful for all of my family and friends. Without them, I do not know where I would be!
So my Christmas wish for all of you is this: I hope you give to others in any way that you can and receive just as much love and kindness in return. Have a wonderful time with family and friends and cherish every moment you spend with them!
