My Blog Story
I started my blog about 5 months ago after I came home from an eating disorder treatment facility. I spent a good, long 6 months there, and while I was away not only did I start recovering from my eating disorder, but I also became sick and landed in the hospital for a week. When I arrived back home, I was faced with challenges that I never had before. I was too fatigued to walk very far, too dizzy to stand for very long, and experienced an uncomfortably fast heart rate. I spent a lot of time in my room or in bed, and I wanted a new hobby for myself – something that I could do. The idea came to me instantly. I LOVE to write and after my experience in treatment I desperately wanted to utilize all that I learned to help others. So, I started my blog! I not only found it as a great way to help and reach out to others, but it became very therapeutic for me; a good place to release my thoughts and feelings. I also loved the aspect of meeting a bunch of new, really great people and having that online support for issues that I am going through. I love my little blog! It is like my baby (besides Fiona, of course) 😉 and I am so glad that I decided to start blogging. It has helped me immensely and I can only hope that it has helped others as well.
My Advice For New Bloggers:
- Keep at it! A lot of times I have started following new bloggers that stop blogging after the first couple of posts…don’t give up! It takes time to get likes and followers – your blog cant grow over night! For me, I originally thought that no one would read my blog and it was not going to grow because in the beginning, things were moving really slow. But I wanted it to work and be successful so I kept at it and now I am proud to say that today I have reached 500 likes! I love you guys and appreciate your support so very much!
2. Don’t be perfectionistic about your blog posts! I know that’s hard, believe me, I myself, am a perfectionist. However, it isn’t about how “perfect” your post is, it is more important that you write what is on your mind or write from your heart. That way, it is helpful and therapeutic for you and others, as well.
Now for my nominations!
