DIY lava light lamps!


So a few weekends ago my best friend (who is studying to become an Occupational therapist) and I decided that it would be fun to try out a project that she could possibly do with her fieldwork kids. It took us a few tries to get it right, but it was a lot of fun! My glitter jar has become my new coping skill. When I feel stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious I play with lava jar by shaking it and turning it upside down; it is actually really calming to watch all of the glitter and sequins float around and fall. We also bought submersable lights to put inside if we wanted our jars to light up like they are in the picture. So if you struggle with anxiety, depression, or any other condition that keeps you mostly house-bound, I strongly suggest you try this project by yourself or with a friend-do something fun for yourself this weekend! Below I will put the instructions to make this fun glittery jar. Have a great weekend everyone! 🙂


1. make sure you have a good mason jar or a water bottle (something that seals tightly)

2. fill most of the jar (about 3/4 to all the way full) with warm water

3. mix clear glue into the water until it takes a thicker consistency

4. pour in a bunch of glitter-any colors that you want-and mix it around

5. If you want sequins of any kind, put some of those in

6. add a few squirts of dish soap

7. put the lid on and shake the bottle as hard as you can to get everything mixed in

8. repeat steps 4-7 until your happy with your own personal lava lamp
